Jerry was one of Kokomo's top bowlers in the 1970's and 1980's. He joined the PBA and participated in many regional tournaments from 1981 to 1984. He bowled in one National PBA event, the Indianapolis Kessler Open. Jerry also had several top ten finishes in regional events.
He shot a 300 game in 1983 and still holds the Kokomo triplicate record of 246. Jerry was a member of the Honda of Kokomo team that set team game and series records. He consistently averaged over 190 and finished several seasons with over a 200 average.
He started bowling in junior leagues in the 1960's at Sycamore Lanes and the Bowling Center. His participation in adult leagues began in 1971 but had to give up bowling in 1989 due to knee problems.
Jerry co-organized the Pot Bowling League at Astro Bowl with Herman McFarland. This was a uniquely formatted scratch league where an extra dollar a game was used as match play money. As the league progressed, sometimes bowlers could have over $100 on the line for a given game. Unfortunately, the league only lasted one year.
Jerry served as Director for the KBA for two series of terms. He was the first vice president in 1989. He also served many leagues in which he bowled. He served as secretary for a couple of leagues for three to five years and was a league president for a few leagues for three to five years.
While on the KBA board, Jerry helped establish the KBA scholarship program. He also was an AJBC coach at Cedar Crest from 1978 to 1983 and participated in the "Learn to Bowl" program sponsored by Astro Bowl.
The Indiana All-Stars kept Jerry very active in the 1970's and 1980's. He was Executive Director for two years and Tournament Director for five years.

MAJOR BOWLING ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Jerry bowled a 300 game on August 30, 1983, at Astro Bowl.
- He rolled about fifty 700 series and had 13 in one year; the first was a 722 in April of 1979.
- He shot a 279 and 289 in PBA regional tournaments
- Jerry won 10-20 league team championships and many individual games, series and average championship honors.
- He was a member of Honda of Kokomo team that set team game record of 1181 in April of 1979.
- Rolled Kokomo record triplicate of 246 about 1982-83 in a morning league at Astro Bowl
Jerry participated in about ten KBA Championship Tournaments. He captured one team title and placed second one year in singles to Ed Martin. Jerry also bowled in about five IBA Championship Tournaments-always bowling on the KBA teams formed with other KBA officers. Jerry bowled in about four ABC tournaments with his best score being a 640 in singles.
In other tournaments, Jerry finished second in the Inman Tournament in Valparaiso. In addition to running Indiana All-Star tournaments, he also bowled very well in them. Jerry won several events and was a leading money winner three times.
He also bowled in other Midwest tournaments such as Rockford, Hamtramck, Dayton Industrials, Fairfield Ohio and the Hoinke. He finished in the top 50 in the Hoinke once. After the Indiana All-Stars broke up, he joined the Midwest Bowling Association to keep the competitive juices flowing. Later, he joined the PBA and participated in many PBA regional tournaments.
Jerry was very active in leagues in which he was a member. He bowled in scratch leagues, men's leagues and mixed leagues. He sometimes would roll in five leagues in a week. One year he bowled in nine leagues-rolling in two leagues on Saturday and Sunday. This may be a record for Kokomo.
Jerry also pot-bowled in Kokomo and Indianapolis against the competitors of Carl Babb, Tex Thornton and Don Johnson.
