SUMMARY

Ted Wooley first appeared on the Kokomo bowling scene as a junior bowler at Cedar Crest about 1974. He quickly became one of our top bowlers and was one of the premier bowlers in Kokomo in the late 1970's and early 1980's. He set the Kokomo series record in 1978. He was an active participant in tournaments and won a number of championships. After being inactive for several years, Ted has come back with a bang. He has captured many recent City Tournament titles and has rolled several 300 games at the Hoinke Tournament in Cincinnati.

In the mid-1980's, he served as KBA director for three years and was a member of the Kokomo Bowling Council. Ted was the proprietor of Cedar Crest Lanes from 1984-1990 and a member of BPAA and Indiana Bowling Proprietors during that period.

Ted was the YABA coordinator and coordinator of the Kids Over Fifty-Five (KOFF) Senior Club at Cedar Crest for seven years. For six seasons, he was league secretary (1977-1981, 1998).

TOURNAMENT PERFORMANCES

• In a 1980 All Stars tournament, Ted forgot his equipment, pulled an AMF 3-dot off the rack, and led the tournament from start to finish.
• Finished in third place in the 1998 National Postal Federal Tournament in doubles
• In 1999, Ted won the Indiana Bowling Centers Association State Singles championship and $5000.
• Ted and son, Robbie, won Indiana State Championship in the Bowling Proprietors International Family Tournament and the right to go to the nationals conducted at Palmara Lanes in Hershey, Pennsylvania in 1999. They qualified in fourth place averaging 212 actual for 8 games including a 245 and 246 game (alternating frame Baker format). They tied Arizona in the title game at 234 although they were higher actual (217 to 204). That led to a playoff game, which Arizona won 234 to 204. Robbie won a $2000 scholarship for his efforts.
